The main idea of the project See the Sea is to develop a specific product combining marine, historical, cultural and leisure tourism. This product’s idea is to bring together the institutional, educational, sports and recreational points of Varna and integrate them into a market-based product, as well as create consumer demand and attract the attention of young specialists. Varna and the other Black sea’s cities and resorts currently offer only beach leisure tourism and all-inclusive packages. Thus there is a necessity of new product supply, especially for tourists and guests of the city who are interested mainly in active sea vacation and willingly to discover the full potential and opportunities of Varna and Black Sea.
On the other hand, there is a wide open discuss on the necessity to bring together school and university education with the practical needs of businesses and industries, hereby to prepare practical skilled young professionals with adequate working habits, collegiality, responsibility and teamwork proficiency. All this is necessary for the creation of reliable young professionals with an entrepreneurial and innovative spirit. Also, the desire of the Varna States Authorities is to encourage new professions and industries, especially high-tech ones, and those including the particularly creative and innovative potential of the human factor. The project See the Sea will create a team of youth assigned to implement variety of tasks related to innovative solutions and products. In order to minimize stress from the busy schedule of the project, the formed youth team will be strongly supported by mentors-experts in the foreseen activity’s areas.
Thus, the performed informal training will assemble several important project’s conceptions: potencial’s development of the participating young specialists; changing the focus of the existing tourist conception of Varna and turning it to an attractive marine destination; creating of a suitable co-work environment between the young specialists and the established business; invention of other cultural and touristic products as a part of established Varna - Youth European Capital conception.
Through the targeted informational media campaign at the beginning of the project, 20 young volunteers will be selected and involved. They will support the implementation of the main project’s goals and activities, as follows: 6 activities and 6 products, three of which are innovative. The main project’s conception as well as the activities and products are detail described in this project. The formed youth team will be encouraged to be active co-organizers and performers of their own ideas instead. They will be able to offer and develop their personal innovative conceptions, together with mentors and the Initiative Committee members in order to create a better product.
The main part of the activities is concentrated during the most intensive summer season - July-August-September. These events are strongly dedicated to Varna’s guests and citizens. An International Round Table will be held in October in order to summarize and present the project's activities results and experience as well to discuss them on an international level. We expect that the youth team of the project as a result of the experience already acquired will have a completely different level of expertise and receptivity to the foreign experiences presented at the Round Table. We believe that, in order to the European distribution of the Varna - Maritime Cultural Destination concept, many new ideas, partnerships and youth development ideas will be raised during the discussions.
The project’s aims is to present the youth point of view of the opportunities and resources of the marine cultural and tourism industries. As well the formed team of young people with professional and hobby interests in the field will meet the opportunity to create a cultural product which will be represented to the guests of the city.
Thus, 20 young people will attempt and develop their skills in industries fields important for Varna. Through the experienced mentor’s support the youngsters will have the possibility to create a personal contact network. The project will become part of their professional and volunteer portfolio as well as the young people will become familiar with the business opportunities variety.
Printed materials, games and clipart will be distributed during the next tourist season thus adding value to Varna and promoting it as a cultural, sport and youth marine destination.
The planned and organized events - happenings and an innovative musical night will enrich the city's youth and cultural life and will represent the sea as a different way of life and inspiration.
The planned International Round Table aim is to review the final project results as well to open the discuss regarding the opportunities offered by sea towns. All the participants will be able to discuss different policies and experiences in order to plan future development projects.
