The project is a model for motivating and training of young people (students and professionals) to generate and validate solutions to real business problems of Varna companies by the method of "disruptive innovations". A "new fix" platform will be created - a basis for highlighting a pressing problem in the business sector operating in the city, against which traditional solutions are no longer effective. The platform will gather young people willing to participate in the experiment with different backgrounds and interests. Mentor team will form 4 groups of different composition. The groups will go through a set of interactive innovation sessions, involving both the development of personal skills and competencies of the participants to enhance their ability to generate and evaluate ideas based on their competencies and personal specifications as well as a guidance to deploying ideas, team building, skills to formulate and test ideas. 4 team of participants with different backgrounds and training with mentors will develop innovative entrepreneurial responses to an employer-defined problem in order to present their decisions to a mixed board of experts. When selecting a winner, a "super team" from all participating will develop the best concept to finalize it in a proof of concept to be proposed to be funded. The model is subject to transfer and repetition.
The project is a model for encouraging the entrepreneurial activity of students and young professionals through the use of innovative training methods for understanding and implementing change. The model will be implemented through the simultaneous establishment of a platform for youth entrepreneurship initiatives, creating a community for generating and testing innovations and to promote cooperation between young people in Varna and the business, as well as the sharing of knowledge between them in interactive innovation sessions with application of modern training techniques. The project aims to create and validate the environment and practice for active communication between the "experienced" in the business, who are looking for new and untraditional solutions of different problems (in a structural and functional context) and "inexperienced" young professionals whose ideas, creative potential and specific competencies and talent can be channeled to generate non-standard but adequate solutions. This communication will be initiated, guided, moderated and supported with additional knowledge and innovative teaching and coaching methods by lecturers and mentors..
The model builds on the opportunity to apply the method of "disruptive innovation" - innovation, creating new models, new products and organizational and governance structures, new markets and market relations based on new values, rejecting old ones. There is no need for the disruptive innovations to represent high-tech solutions..
Most often they result from combinations of existing market-approved services or products, organizational or technological tools implemented through innovative business models. Often, their capabilities are surprising for business and investors, as they are beyond the scope of in-house improvements or organizational improvement. Disruptive innovation is the use of new methods for solving old problems ("TEACHING OLD GODS NEW TRICKS"). Disruptive innovations replace old organizational structures, processes, products, services and technologies.
In order to trigger such a process, it is often necessary to involve external actors to offer solutions based on specific skills and talents, without being part of the established value chain of the business. Defined solutions can be driven as a separate entrepreneurial process - a new product, a new service - as a business subcontractor to whom has declared the problem, or a new mobile application, a new platform. In order to achieve effective, feasible and viable innovations, it is necessary to provide an interdisciplinary platform and experienced teachers and mentors to engage participants with different skills and talents to be trained and stimulated to develop their innovation potential, and leadership style.
To implement the model, an online platform for information exchange will be developed and established between problem applicants seeking innovative solutions and young professionals and entrepreneurs offering change. It will be popularized among Varna companies and will attract at least 40 companies, which will be expected to co-operate at least 20 in the process of realizing the project. Firms will share problems seeking unconventional solutions, and young participants will seek solutions.
Four groups of 10 young people with different backgrounds, talents and interests will be formed to take part in 4 innovation sessions to enhance the use of the "disruptive innovation" approach to implementing organizational or technical change. The training will take place In the form of workshops, poster sessions, discussion of study films, brainstorming, mind mapping. The training will focus not on entrepreneurial skills, but on mastering the five key innovative skills. Participants will learn how to mobilize their personal specifications, competencies and talents to generate and test innovative ideas. The sessions will be led by two experienced entrepreneurial education experts and supported by four real-life mentors, two of whom young start-up entrepreneurs who have established a successful business on the basis of "disruptive innovation". The groups will discuss and test solutions by preparing 10 concepts, and the project is expected to end with at least one start-up founded.
