“Music 2.0” is a project that aims to educate youths of the distinctive feautures of the music industry and social&tech entrepreneurship. The main concept is to have 10 educational lectures where all participant will have the opportunity to learn the most important principles in starting a business or organization which improves the music industry and environment. At the end there will be a two-day hackathon where participants and teams will start their own project having mentors by their side. After the hackathon of the teams will be selected by a local jury and supported by Rockschool.bg having the chance to make its own project alive. The event is not only for developers, designers and marketers but also for people that have a vision of how they could improve the local music scene using contemporary techniques in social entrepreneurship.

Description

“Music 2.0” is a project focused on the development of the skills and talents of young people with the purpose of provoking and activating the enterprenourship and innovation in the music industry. “Music 2.0” is a project aiming to train young people in the specific features of both the music business and the social and technical entrepreneurship. The main concept is to conduct ten educational lectures, in which the participants will become familiar with the main principles of starting a business or organization, which develops music. At the end there is going to be a two-days-long creative workshop and hackathon, where participants and teams will have the opportunity to conceptualize and start their projects with the help of mentors. At the end of the event one of the projects will be chosen by a local jury and supported by Rockschool.bg for the realization of the project. The event is going to give opportunity not only to programmers, designers and marketing experts to develop their ideas, but also to people that have an ambition to create new organizations that change and develop the local music industry using contemporary techniques. At the very beginning of the project the project leader is going to create a team of young people that are going to start working on the schedule for the educational lectures, the selection of lecturers and also the hackathon. The ten educational lectures are going to be on the following topics: 1) Why are social and technological innovations important in the music industry? 2) The most exciting examples of innovation in the music industry 3) How can we change the music industry on a local and international level? Practical workshop 4) How to write a business plan? Working with a business model canvas. 5) How to market a product/service? 6) What kind of people do we need for our idea and how to find them? 7) How to create a successful presentation and the art of presenting 8) How to fund the idea that we have? 9) How to create the sustainability of a project? 10) Future of the music industry and how can we be a part of it The lecturers of the educational lectures are going to be representatives of the music industry, people doing business in the music industry, entrepreneurs and professionals. The hackathon is going to be two days long and it is going to include teams, either formed in the educational panel of the event or new ones. It is going to start with announcing the teams ideas and those who want to take part in either one of the ideas will have this opportunity. After, the teams are going to start working with their mentors, who are going to help the participants to specify their business plans, financial frames and popularizing the project. On Sunday the participants are going to present their projects in front of a jury and one of the teams is going to have the opportunity to realize their idea with the support of Rockschool.bg. Music and art as a whole also require building an infrastructure and eco-system for development. It is impossible for them to generate themselves if there are no innovations and organizations to support their development. That is why we believe that “Music 2.0” is a project that is going to contribute to the development of the music infrastructure not only in Varna but on a national level, having in mind that there is no such activity in Bulgaria so far.

Target

One of the goals of the project is to integrate an innovative and entrepreneurial mindset into the music sector – not only locally but with the opportunity to reach foreign markets. The main goal is to train youths in social and tech entrepreneurship, so they could have an opportunity to start their own project or become way more solid leaders at already established companies. During the project they will have to start their own companies/organizations and one of them will win a support from a few of the most active and popular companies in the music industry in Bulgaria in order to make their project alive.
