In Sofia back in 1985 a World Writers Meeting took place and a bell, weighing 876 kilo, was placed in front of the Park Hotel Moskva. It was found with the signatures of more than 100 world known writers and is a cultural memorability of international significance. After the communist regime fall down the whole memorial was plundered and the tongue of the bell was stolen which made it silent till nowadays. Iliyan Lyubomirov’s cause is to rescue the bell giving it a new voice, to renovate it and to put in a very prestigious place in Paris. This will happen in cooperation with the Municipality of Sofia, the Union of the Bulgarian Writers and the Embassy of Bulgaria in France. From the heart of the French capital the bell will ring again to promote the building of a literature pavilion for contemporary Bulgarian literature in 2018 in the same place. The date of the official opening of the new bell pedestal in Paris has an important meaning – on the first of November in Bulgaria are celebrated the persons responsible for keeping the Bulgarian spirit awake. That’s how the bell with its soft voice will symbolically awaken the interest for contemporary Bulgarian literature beyond the Bulgarian borders.
