Youth initiatives within the frames of International Theatre Festival “Varna Summer”

Resume

ITF “Varna Summer” has been continuously dealing with the development of youth audiences in Varna. In connection with Varna Youth Culture 2017 the festival would like to organize special events in its parallel program, which will be targeted exclusively to the younger generations: 1. The performance “The Memory of Fire” by Fire Theatre Mime Company, which is realized by an international crew at the space of the Roman Thermae in Varna. 2. Interactive happening with fire at Club “Menthol”

Description

Performance “The Memory of Water” by Fire Theatre Mime Company The performance comprises of various scenes using mime and fire. It engages the spectators into a mystical journey through the layers of culture, beyond time and reality, in the space of the spirit and poetry. The main character is that of fire. Fire Theatre makes synthesis of various theatrical means of expression and forms (mime, dance and play with fire, fire visions, object theatre, masks, carnival, stilts, attractions etc.) It is conceived to be performed in the open. As a very suitable space for its presentation could serve old fortresses, ruins and spaces of archaeological and historical value. The people in the artistic crew of the performance come from Bulgaria, France, Italy and Jordan. Interactive happening with fire at Club “Menthol” The happening begins with a brief artistic introduction – various fire props and techniques are being presented in an attractive way to the audience. All this is enhanced by informal commentary and explanations from the happenings’ leader. After that begins the interactive part: the spectators could try and play with real fire under the guidance of the experienced artists from the crew.

Target

The project aims at attracting younger audiences from Varna by means of attractive and interactive stage forms, performed in unconventional venues. The festival’s organizers would like to create a space for meeting between young spectators and young artists – during the events themselves, but also under the form of discussions.
