KineDok is an European platform for documentary film screenings at various places, outside traditional cinema halls. It’s an all-year event taking places in 8 countries simultaneously, including Bulgaria for the first time in 2017.
KineDok is an European project for alternative distribution of thought-provoking documentary films, leading to debates on current issues. The initiative consists of free-entry screenings of 16 acclaimed creative documentaries at various places, outside traditional screening halls, in 8 CEE countries simultaneously throughout the whole year. Among the locations are galleries, clubs, attics, chapels, on rooftops and under the ground, outside in the city or in the nature. Some of the screenings are attended by creators of the films, who meet the audience for an informal discussion. The project is taking place for a third year in a row, organized by the Institute of Documentary Film (IDF) in Czech Republic with the support of Creative Europe MEDIA sub-programme of the EU, together with local partners in each of the participating countries. In 2017 KineDok is organized for the first time in Bulgaria, with the support of Activist38.
To make creative documentaries more accessible and to provide a platform for discussions and social change.
